The commissioner’s office has imposed a suspension on Barney Koneferenisi, an international player from New Zealand, due to violation of the USQRA code of conduct.
Mr. Koneferenisi played with Milwaukee Iron in the 2014/2015 season. The team sent him home after confronting him about multiple larcenies. During my investigation, it was determined that this player has a history of this type of behavior (at home) and he confessed to the charges of which he was accused.
Mr. Koneferenisi is currently suspended from the New Zealand program. Internationals players who are suspended by their own leagues/programs will not be allowed to play in the USQRA while they are suspended.
When the New Zealand suspension is complete, Mr. Koneferenisi will begin a 1 year suspension from the USQRA.
I do not have the authority to require return of thieved items. I do, however, recommend that any team who considers adding this player to their roster speak with Milwaukee before doing so. While Mr. Koneferenisi displayed a great deal of remorse, I believe that genuine contrition requires reparations.
