On December 4th & 5th the St. Louis Rugby Rams held their 4th annual Crazy 8 Tournament. This year the tournament was held for the first time in Perryville, MO, the hometown of St. Louis Rams player, Mike Schamburg. Eight teams traveled to Perryville and participated in the tournament. They were divided into two pools; Pool A consisted of The St. Louis Rams, Michigan Storm, Milwaukee Iron and Frasier TNT B and Pool B consisted of Frasier TNT A, Minnesota North Stars, Grand Rapids Thunder, and Chicago Bears. While it was chilly outside, things heated up quickly inside the gym. -  RESULTS

Two courts ran on Saturday, with a total of 14 games played. TNT A & St. Louis won all three of their games on Saturday. Michigan and Minnesota won 2 of their 3 games on Saturday. Most games were at least 10 to 20 point margins. The closest game was TNT A versus Minnesota, Minnesota came back in the 3rd quarter to be ahead of TNT A by three points but couldn’t hold out. TNT A won 45-43. This tournament was Grand Rapids’ debut; they played very well for their first tournament. Grand Rapids beat TNT B during their match up on Sunday to finish in 7th place.

On Sunday, six games were played. The first two games resulted in TNT A and St. Louis playing for the Championship and Michigan and Minnesota playing for 3rd and 4th. Unfortunately, Michigan was forced to forfeit due to their scheduled flight back. This resulted in Minnesota finishing in 3rd place. The Championship game started with St. Louis going ahead by 10 points and holding that lead till the end of the game for a 51-41 victory against TNT A.  This resulted in TNT A finishing in 2nd place and the undefeated St. Louis Rams finishing in 1st place.
We would like to thank all our volunteers.   Without our volunteers we would not have been able to run a smooth tournament. Thank you to all the friends & family that came out to support rugby and cheer on the Rams. Also thank you to Perryville for welcoming the Rams and the rest of the teams and showing great support for wheelchair rugby.
