Third Annual United Access Crazy 8's Tournament

The USQRA is looking for sponsors for the 2017-2018 Season

Please contact the 2nd Vice-President for information about becoming a sponsor

The third annual United Access Crazy 8’s Tournament was hosted December 5-6 in Belleville Illinois by the St. Louis Rugby Rams.  The tournament featured 1 top 10 team and 2 top 20 teams with TNT ranked #6, Texas Stampede ranked #13 and St. Louis ranked #17.

The Crazy 8’s tournament was started in 2006 to honor St. Louis Rugby Ram Jason DeSalvo who passed away unexpectedly in October, 2006.  Jason wore the #8 and was the craziest 0.5 to ever grace the St. Louis Rugby Rams.  He loved life and we loved his attitude.

The tournament featured several close matchups with 3 games being decided by 1 point and 1 game being decided by 2 points.  At the end of play Saturday all 3 teams were tied with a 2-2 record, TNT had 2 wins over Texas, St. Louis had 2 wins over TNT and Texas had 2 wins over St. Louis.

Sunday’s games were just as competitive.  In the first match of the day St. Louis edged out TNT 46-44, and then lost a 1 point heart-breaker to Texas 34-35.  In the final and deciding matchup, the wiley veterans from the TNT team came out on top beating Texas 48-42.

In the end all teams finished 3-3 so the tie-breaker was pulled out to decide the winner.  In the end TNT finished #1, Texas #2 and St. Louis #3.

Thanks to all of our sponsors, volunteers, family, friends and fans for making the tournament a success.
