2nd Annual Matt Reynolds Memorial USQRA Rugby Tournament “Final Recap”, February 7-9, 2014!

On Sunday the TIRR Texans (Houston) took first place with a gritty win over the Switzerland Fighting Snakes in the title game. The Boise Bombers (Idaho) led by Spencer Larimore, finished third with a nice win over the Edmonton (Canada) Steel Wheels. Rounding out Sunday’s great games, the North Texas Cowboys (Dallas) were unable to herd the Texas Stampede (Austin).

College working to add adaptive athletics


Pima Community College has always been a place where students can showcase their talents and abilities.  PCC is working to expand opportunities by adding an adaptive athletics program.  The provost’s office, disabled student resources and the athletic department are working on the project.

7th Annual Southern Slam


As the New Year kicked off, quad rugby teams from as far as Boise, Idaho flocked to Jacksonville during the first weekend in January in hopes of warm weather and some healthy competition.

Top Teams Battle in Tampa

This past January, wheelchair rugby returned to Florida for the 22nd Annual Tampa International Wheelchair Rugby Tournament. Competition was tough as 5 of the top 10 ranked teams in the U.S. competed against teams from Brazil, Germany, and a squad comprised of U.S. National team and team Force members. Teams arrived on Thursday to a beautiful 70 degree temperature and plenty to do in downtown Tampa.

Those With Disabilities Thrive in Sporting Program

Northeast Passage 'not about the disability'

DURHAM — As Northeast Passage approaches a quarter century of providing adapted and therapeutic sports to people with disabilities, the nonprofit is serving a growing number of clients across the Seacoast and throughout New England.
"The essence has always been to fill the gaps in service," Northeast Passage founder and Executive Director Jill Gravink said of the group's mission. "We try to keep track of what the needs are in the community and develop programs that meet those needs."

CT Classic Tournament Summary: 
The 2013 CT Classic Wheelchair Rugby Tournament was held on December 7th and 8th at Manchester Community College, Manchester, CT. This four-team, round robin, tournament was co-hosted by the Sports Association of Gaylord Hospital and the New York Warriors.

Iron Rumble Report

The Milwaukee Iron hosted their 11th annual rugby tournament November 9 and 10. The weather was great.  It was brisk but not cold.  There were six teams in attendance.  Each team played 5-6 games each.  The tournament started with St Louis beating Grand Rapids and Milwaukee beating Omaha.

Crazy 8's Wrap-up

The annual Crazy 8's Wheelchair Rugby tournament was held November 16-17 in Perryville, MO. Perryville is the home of 2 St. Louis players, Steve Reisenbichler and Mike Schamberg. Saturday was a short but action filled day with all teams playing 3 games in a row with a lunch break in between the first and second game. Two teams had international players (Indy Jose¢ Hilingo;  Tampa – Leevi Ylonen)
